Waterfall D-Mannose ™ and Cranberry Juice
D-Mannose Pages

Cranberry juice has been a popular natural remedy for cystitis. However, a daily teaspoon of Waterfall D-Mannose ™ is a better alternative to cranberry juice in the prevention and treatment of E. Coli related bladder infections.
Cranberry juice creates an acidic urine environment that helps E. Coli to thrive. Furthermore, it contains very small amounts of mannose. It should be used only for preventing infections. If an infection has started, continuing to take cranberry juice might do more harm than good.
A second reason why cranberry juice is not as beneficial as D-Mannose to
treat bladder infections is that it contains high amounts of sugar under
the form of fructose. Fructose is metabolized more quickly by the body and
creates an imbalance of insulin levels, which further contributes to most
chronic illnesses.
The sugars in cranberry juice can also increase the amounts of E. Coli bacteria in the intestine, which is an additional risk for the bladder infections. This is not a problem with D-Mannose because it is not metabolized by the body; therefore, it is unlikely to interfere with the blood sugar regulation or to disrupt the normal body microflora. D-Mannose is also safe for diabetics (but they should monitor blood sugar levels).
