Original research into grapefruit seed extract was carried out by Dr Jakob Harich, who is said to have been alerted to the effects of grapefruit seeds by the fact that they did not rot when they were placed on his compost heap.
His original work with the seeds was carried out in conjunction with the University of Florida at Gainesville.
